POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
At times, technology will fail, props will break and other difficulties will arise during games.
In order to keep the games running, it's important to learn how to respond to these interruptions quickly and with excellence.
If necessary, bring in other team members to help fix a problem or to devise a temporary workaround.
Report unresolved problems to leadership immediately by submitting a Trouble Ticket.

If you are doing an in person booking make sure you have proof before giving the code. You need to see proof before giving the code. For example: if someone asks for a local discount, they must show their ID as proof.
If there is a discrepancy or confusion and the customer is expecting a lower price, don’t just use a code but rather enter a custom discount in Resova that matches the expected price. (For example, someone wasn’t told about the service fee).
When booking groups, don’t apply the group discount until the final number of people is confirmed and payment is taken. It’s not uncommon for a group to say they have 20+ coming and then only show up with 15.
Codes you can use in Resova:
- MULTIPLE- If a guest asks for a discount when booking multiple rooms- 15% off per booking.
- PLAYAGAIN- when booking a second game after playing one- $5 off per player
- RESPONDERS- for first responders, only use if asked- 15% off

- ECFAF- code for friends and family to book only Monday through Thursday- $15 off per player.
- An Escape Code shirt (or approved and branded hoodie/jacket) must be worn at all times.
- If needed, a matching single colored sweater or jacket may be worn over the shirt, but must be left open so the branding on the shirt can be seen.
- Neat pants or jeans with no holes or rips.
- Closed-toe shoes.
- Black or dark colored hats may be worn but may only include a small apparel logo.
- Please make sure you have a clean and neat appearance. Keep in mind you are working in a tight workspace with guests and other staff, so consider the potential for odors and ensure personal cleanliness.
Emails, voicemails and Telegram messages must be checked and responded to between each round throughout your shift.
To join the two required Telegram groups, go HERE.
Answering the phone:
"Thank you for calling Escape Code, this is _________, how can I help you?"
A late arrival to work (anything one minute late or later) is cause for a warning. First a verbal warning, then a written and then, possible termination.
To encourage timeliness, staff is allowed to clock in 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the shift.
M3 (Mythric Mystery Master) is the interface we use to run our games and communicate with the teams.
Please ensure you understand how to operate M3, how to troubleshoot when it fails and the approved practices for giving hints.
Please use the verbiage below when communicating with guests about minimum group sizes:
Unfortunately, our games are not designed for fewer than the minimum number of players. This means groups of three or fewer are unable to play our two, large-scale games, and none of our games are conducive to solo play.
Since all of our experiences are private, we cannot pair players with other groups. Some companies offer public games, where solo players may be able to join another team.

Effective August 28, 2025, the repeal of the sick leave portion of Proposition A will take effect, meaning employers are no longer mandated to provide it.
After that date, we have decided to offer general "paid time off" instead of simply "sick leave."
While continuing to accrue at the same rate (one hour for every 30 worked), earned hours may be used for vacations and other time off in addition to illness.
The following caveats apply:
Except for illness, PTO may not be used during peak times. Peak times include spring break, summer, Labor Day weekend, Thanksgiving week, and Christmas break.
2025 Peak Dates:
- Thanksgiving week 11/24-11/30
- Christmas break 12/15-1/3
Except for illness, PTO may not be used if another employee has already requested off at the same time (check the When I Work calendar).
PTO may not be used for any reason, including illness, and will not accrue while an employee is under an active written warning.
To request PTO:
If requesting PTO due to illness, indicate that you would like to use PTO when completing the sick form.
If requesting PTO for any other reason, indicate this when submitting your time-off request. Select either personal paid or personal unpaid. If paid, indicate how many earned hours you would like to use in the notes (a specific number of hours or all available hours).
In the event that an employee quits working for Escape Code, available PTO will be paid out on their last paycheck if the following conditions are met:
The employee is in good-standing (not being fired or under a written warning).
The employee gives and fulfills a two-week notice.
We reserve the right to modify or revoke this PTO policy. Also, please be aware that should the state pass another sick leave mandate, this PTO policy will likely be terminated in order to implement a sick leave policy in compliance with the state mandate.
ESCAPE CODE BRANSON, LLC. EMPLOYEE PERSONAL PHONE/DEVICE POLICY
This employee personal phone policy outlines Escape Code guidelines for using phones and other mobile devices at work.We recognize that smartphones are an integral part of everyday life and are a great asset if used appropriately. But smartphones are a detriment to focus and efficiency if used inappropriately during business hours. In our setting, it’s imperative that we are giving our full and undivided attention to the game(s) we are running. Distractions of any type can negatively impact our guest’s experience.Further, downtime should be used to complete projects, clean and accomplish tasks as opposed to spending time on our devices. As outlined below, phones may only be accessed to quickly review important messages at appropriate times.
Downstairs, when your particular game is completed, fully reset and your group has left the building, you are free to quickly check your phone for messages (no more than 3 minutes). Upstairs, the entire property must be free of guests and all games fully reset to quickly check your phone for messages (no more than 3 minutes).
Employees who use smartphones inappropriately during work hours may:
- Disturb colleagues.
- Get distracted from their work.
- Create security issues by misusing personal devices or the company’s internet connection.
- Play games, watch video, listen to audio or use social media on their phone.
- Have their phone in their hand or immediately accessible to them for any reason, at any time, when guests are in the building. (No checking for emails or messages)
- Use their device’s camera or microphone to record (unless specifically given approval for a business project).
- Use their device in an area where phone use is explicitly prohibited (e.g., in the lobby, in front of guests, etc.).
- Download, upload, or view inappropriate, illegal, or obscene material on any device.
- Quickly check their phones for emails and messages ONLY when no guests are in the building and all games are fully reset (No more than 3 minutes in between games).
Our cell phone policy applies to all Game Guides. Managers, supervisors and owners may have a different policy. Do not base your compliance on their usage.
Escape Code reserves the right to monitor employees via security cameras for inappropriate use of cellular devices. Employees are subject to disciplinary action (up to and including termination) in cases where they violate this policy:
- First violation: verbal warning and possible reduction of weekly work hours
- Second violation (within 90 days): written warning and forfeiture of all bonuses until the warning falls off (90 days)

We don't participate in or facilitate any changes to the game for proposals, gender reveals, birthdays or other special occasions. We don't send special hints, hide the ring (HUGE liability), change puzzles, add in notes or adjust anything at all. We are entirely hands off.
Guests are allowed to use their time in the game to hide their own items as long as they don't have to be placed prior to game time. Again, we do not participate in any fashion and we run the game as normal.
As usual, the game must be vacated immediately upon completion, so there is no time for clean up of party items.
If a group is unable to make their scheduled game, the first offer must be to reschedule the game. However, a store credit may be offered in most situations.
No shows are not eligible for a credit unless approved by leadership.
Staff is not authorized to offer refunds in most cases. If a guest is not satisfied with a rescheduled game or a store credit, direct them to www.escapecode.tv/leadership to make their request.
- Being overly engaged in talking with co-workers.
- Turning our back on our games to talk with co-workers.
- Reading.
- Doing homework.
- Looking at our phones.
- Know each game in detail so you can be prepared to send a hint within 3 seconds of the request.
- When necessary, have a custom hint ready to go so you don’t have to spend time typing when a hint is requested.
- Do not over-hint. The goal, while uncommon, is to complete a game with zero hints. Hints, though necessary at times, take our guests out of immersion.
- Only use custom hints when absolutely necessary. Use the pre-written hints most always.
- Do not engage in casual dialogue via the hint system. Keep it immersive and ensure the guest doesn’t sense they are talking back and forth with their game guide.
Reasons to Give Hints
- When asked
- To diffuse a tense situation
- To bring needed clarity (for example, they have the correct code but the lock didn't open, etc)
- To help them reach milestones
SICK TIME-OFF
When requesting time off for sickness, you must complete the form at www.escapecode.tv/sick.
Your health and the health of your coworkers are important to us. If you have a communicable illness, we may require your time off to be extended, even if you are feeling better.
‣ UNNECESSARY ABSENCES
It's extremely important to avoid missing scheduled shifts unnecessarily. If you can work and are not potentially contagious, consider working. In most circumstances, requesting sick time off should be uncommon.
‣ REPORTING AS SICK MID-SHIFT
While leaving in the middle of a shift may occasionally be necessary, please avoid this if possible.
‣ REPORTING AS SICK PROCEDURE
When reporting as sick, you MUST message Amy directly. If there is no response within 30 minutes, contact Jill. You must ALSO fill out the form.
PLEASE submit the form as soon as you know you may miss your scheduled shift.
If you need time off for any other reason, submit a time-off request via When I Work before the schedule is published.
Your first stop when looking for help is to visit the HELP page at www.escapecode.tv/help.
If you are unable to resolve the issue, seek advice from your teammates.
If the issue remains unresolved, visit www.escapecode.tv/help.
The work week begins on Monday. The schedule is typically released on Friday (three days prior), and time-off requests should be submitted by Tuesday (six days prior).
Time off requests are not guaranteed, especially during peak times or if other employees have already requested off during the same period. Therefore, it is essential to submit requests as far in advance as possible.
If the schedule has already been published, you are responsible for your shift (except in the case of illness) unless you find another employee to cover for you.
Employees are NOT allowed to solicit for tips, whether subtle or direct. Offering discounts or other incentives in order to encourage tipping is not allowed. Spending extra time (beyond the approved brief and debrief scripts) in order to encourage tipping is not allowed.
- If you hear a storm siren, alert your groups via a hint and ask them if they’d like to keep playing or if they’d prefer to stop until the sirens stop.
- If they prefer to keep playing, alert them of any weather changes that you become aware of.
- If they choose to pause their game, allow them to resume once the sirens have stopped.
- For groups in Vortex, don’t ask their preference, but rather move them out of their game room since they are directly next to an exterior window.
- Gather people in the hallway, in the second prep room and next to the restroom.
Escape Code rarely closes for weather including snow and other storms.
If you are unable to make it to work due to snow or ice, please contact leadership well in advance of your shift.
