4 Reasons You Think You’ll Hate an Escape Room (And Why You’re Actually Wrong)

It's not scary, you won't be locked in and you won't be grouped with strangers at Escape Code!
When someone in the family suggests booking an escape room for your Branson vacation, there is almost always one person in the group who instantly drags their feet.
Maybe that person is you.
If you have never played a live-action game before, it is easy to let a few common misconceptions talk you out of a great time. Let’s clear the air and completely bust the four biggest myths keeping you from the best hour of your trip.
1. “I don't want to be grouped with a bunch of strangers.” We completely agree. There is nothing worse than paying for a fun family night out, only to watch a random guy you just met take over the game and solve all the puzzles for you. Believe it or not, a lot of other escape games actually expect you to play with people you don't know just to fill the room. We would never do that to you. At Escape Code, we operate on a strict stranger-free philosophy. Every single booking is 100% private, meaning it is just you and your hand-picked crew saving the day.
2. “I'm claustrophobic, and the rooms sound tiny.” If you are picturing a cramped basement or a broom closet, you can take a deep breath. Our rooms are incredibly spacious and easy to move around in. In fact, if you book our Secret Passage or The Zeros experiences, you are actually exploring over 2,500 square feet of immersive environments! Plus, you are never actually trapped. You can simply open the door, step out into the lobby to use the restroom or grab a drink of water, and return to the game at absolutely any time.
3. “I hate haunted houses. Is it going to be scary?” Not at all. While our cinematic atmosphere is incredibly exciting and occasionally a little edgy to fit the storyline, there is absolutely nothing scary about our adventures. No one is going to jump out of a locker, and nothing is going to chase you. We specifically design our games for all ages. On any given day of the week, we have kiddos who are absolutely thrilled to run around the rooms, find hidden keys, and experience the magic without anyone needing to cover their eyes.
4. “I'm just not savvy or sharp enough to solve a bunch of puzzles.” This isn't an SAT test; it's a game! You do not need to be a math genius or a trivia master to win. Our experiences are carefully crafted to be perfect for every single type of person. If you are a left-brain, highly logical thinker, you will love cracking the codes. If you are a right-brain, highly creative person, you will be the one finding hidden compartments and noticing visual patterns everyone else missed. Each game is filled with fun for everybody, and everyone on the team naturally finds their own role.
Don't let a myth keep you from making an incredible memory. Grab your family, pick your theme, and book your private adventure today at www.escapecode.tv!
